Alrick’s Visit to Jamaica
I am finally home, where I can enjoy my scenery and the great energy from the people in my community. I will be able to visit my local river and get swept away by the rushing waters. My great-grandmother, always has a nice hot plate of food ready, for me to devour.

My neighborhood
My initial-thing to do-is to go by my cousins and then visit the river. We went in our delicate pants (which always gets taken off from the countries). When the water splashed against my face I felt so relieved and my butterflies where gone.

After, I had visited my local river, I now want to go home and taste the real “badman” food. I love to hear the good music of “Jah cure” all through my neighborhood. Then, you would normally hear the night clubs all through the city from Monday-Saturday. Sunday every one goes their religious ways.
Adventures
My grandmother’s friend always love to take me to the mountains with her. Amy loves to venture up the Blue mountain(tallest mountain in Jamaica) with her goats. My grandmother rather to take her goats on a different day, but Amy goes before her. The walk up the mountain is like trying to stay awake while your sleepy.

The real adventure begins after you hit the coffee field, such as: seeing the rainfall;the bats hanging upside down in their caves; and the cold air, taking the shirt away from you. After seeing the beautiful wonders,I just carefully jog back down the hill, as you feel the water splashing in your face.
Cuisine
Usually, I have to get the freshly cooked curry goat(mutton) when I am back. They skin the live goat in seconds and while his heart is still beating, they wash the meat off and season it up(curry blend). They then put it into a large pot and stew it down. Meanwhile, I ate straight out of the oven bulla bread-sweet bread.
The food is worth the wait. It is like no other. They make lots of dishes such as: Oxtail,Mutton,Ackee and Cod fish; and Manishwater (left over organs and testis from the goat in a broth).
Lifestyle
Getting around in Jamaica can be an issue, but it is worth trying. Most people get around on motor bikes or on foot. It is a very clean environment and lots of vegetation around. The crime level is not that high, considering the population and the countries GPD (Gross Domestic Product).
The population consist of mostly older people and they are very active.Trust me on this one, my great grandma walks about a mile a day. I can normally experience a 56 year old guy go and catch fish with his bear hands. The atmosphere of the people is so amazing and unique.

Houses are big depending on the area. Also, The people are very down to earth and the lifestyle is very fun and relaxing. Jamaica,is a really fun and well awkward place. If your not the best at getting dirty or experiencing nice soothing sounds, its not the place for you.
